FC Barcelona is the leader in several statistics surrounding the most prestigious trophy in the world of football
The Ballon d’Or gala on Monday night was a great success for FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana club won three trophies, with Aitana Bonmatí (Ballon d’Or), Lamine Yamal (Kopa Trophy) and Barça Féminin (best team in the world) being the stars of the evening. Here are the records held by Barça in relation to the trophies awarded by France Football.
Club with the most Ballons d’Or
Barça now has 16 Ballons d’Or since Aitana won her second on Monday night. The Catalan club is the one that has lifted this coveted award the most times. In total, 16 Ballons d’Or have been won by players who defended the colours of the Blaugrana club. In addition, Barça women have won 4 Ballons d’Or. A record.
4th consecutive Ballon d’Or
Barça Women are the first team to win four consecutive Ballons d’Or. The work of the Catalan club has been rewarded every year for the last four years. In the men’s category, this has only happened twice and that was with Juventus and Barça. Paolo Rossi (one) and Michel Platini (three) had won the trophy while playing for the Old Lady.
Messi , winner between 2009 and 2012, also won 4 Ballons d’Or consecutively, with Barça.
Blaugrana hegemony
Aitana Bonmatí, Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo finished in the top three places of the Ballon d’Or, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris . It is the first time that the Club has managed to place three players on the podium in the women’s category, but in 2010, Messi, Iniesta and Xavi achieved it.
Golden Youth
Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy for the best under-21 player in the world, at just 17 years old. He takes over from Pedri (2021) and Gavi (2022). Barça has won half of the trophies in this category. A record, of course.
